We will show you how to make
simple structures that will allow you to extend
your growing season.
Tips and Techniques for cold frame know how.
Jill is explaining how to put a stick in
the pot and cover
the pot with a plastic bag to keep moister in.
Another way is use a large pot and a "wall of water" to keep the cold weather away from the plant.
The construction of the wood made cold
frame. The boys are cutting a 45 degree angle for the 2 doors
on the cold frame. Two doors are use so one can be open to let out
air that is too hot for the plants.
A drill is used to make a pilot hole and
then the screw. This is done so the wood wont split.
The frame come together, and is waiting for the doors to be finished.
Tools used are a drill, staple gun for the covering on the doors. and hinges for the doors.
For the base of the cold frame a mixture of peat moss and good soil.
